Since this site is still in it's early days, there will likely be major changes occurring while you are trying to view the forums. If you are having major difficulties, please post them in here and we will try and help you out.

yeah um anyways, this website looks kinda the same as the old one o-o

haha, it probably does, for now, it looks neater though, doesn't it?

It's neatness is probably just a result of the lack of dead threads everywhere.


Oh, and give me a sec, I've been meaning to change those member group pictures (just some future planning because eventually you'll all grow into monsters much bigger than a snail :/)

Oh, and Rob, get yourself some kind of display picture. Same goes for the rest of you :p

(This is also a test to see what happens to double posts. No members are permitted to double post if this works!)

Alright, great great, I've gotta make a tutorial on how to use this site now. The reputation buttons are so small, they're under the online button, I just activated the point system as well.

nice, good job sharky. hmm. to set a default avatar go to the admin CP, go to display -- > avatar gallery --- > avatar management . i'll let you choose from there. :L

Oh, and I saw your post Rob, so I went and gave everyone a default avatar as you indicated... but it doesn't seem to show up on anyone. You might wanna go there and have a snoop around and see what I chose and why it might not be showing up :/

okay. i've got no idea why its not working but... i guess it looks cleaner without a default avatar so i might as well leave it like this.

That was my thoughts too... but the guitar man in the music section has the default avatar, which suggests that the changes I made apply only to members that actually joined AFTER the change was made :/

So now's the time to decide whether that means we leave it as is, or change it to something else, or scrap it altogether, because everyone that is joining from here on in gets the leaning smiley as the default.

haha, it's your choice, the big smiley does seem to be taking up alotta space though.

Take up space? It's like one of the narrowest display pics there is >.< compared to others around (mine included :/) it's one of the smallest pics anyone has.

Really? looks quite big. o.o hmm. maybe something smaller, relevant to maple as well if possible? :L

Ok, I'll get a tiny maple thingy as a replacement default picture... maybe even something for guests since it has the functionality for it.

Also, have you changed the way quote-structure appears, because some of the posts on the previous page look a little "tabbed" now. It's nice, but it makes it a little hard to tell who said what without that visual box/background colour change that normally accompanies quotes.

There we go. The new default member avatar is set, and measures at 51 x 75 pixels, while the new default guest avatar measures a mere 31 x 32 pixels.

Hopefully when some new members join, we can see the member avatar in action. As for the guest one, I intend to log off right now and post in here as a guest to see if it works.


EDIT: Whoops, guests can't post here... looks like it's time to relax a few restrictions?

For the purposes of this test, guests are now permitted to post in this section alone.

If this poster has an avatar, then the plan worked. Otherwise, I might need to go and check something.


Also, I see James is here, but his avatar is still the old one. It looks like he joined a matter of minutes before I changed it :/

Is Shuriken's avatar the default one you set? that's pretty big

Most definitely not, that was his own doing. If you check out the dimensions that I mentioned the avatars were in my last post, you will see that the default member avatar is slightly more than twice the size of the guest avatar (as seen above in my guest post).

Your advancement through member groups is dependant upon how active in the site you are. If you are unhappy with being a simple green snail, then I recommend you continue to make use of this website. As your posts grow, so should your member status to slightly more significant monsters.

So is there gonna be a site party (or something like that) when the site is finished being 'renovated'?
