Beginners are not able to put AP into HP. If you actually paid attention to the quiz that one of those guys on Maple Islands gives you right at the start (maybe it's Robin?), at about the point where you would advance from level 2 to level 3 I think it is, you find out that Beginner stats are automatically done for you.
But other than that, there should be no reason you can't still make one. Have fun dojo-ing with it ^_^

my friend told me he couldnt put ap in to HP till he was lvl 20

yea, you notice that all stats are not able to be added to HP/MP until a certain lvl.
